Lists
Use lists to make blocks of text easier to read.
Bulleted list
Introduce bulleted lists with a lead-in line ending in a colon. Start each item with a lowercase letter and do not use a full stop at the end.

Bulleted list with nested items
Use a bulleted list with nested items if items in a bulleted list require a list themselves.
Battery disposal:
- never dispose of used or damaged batteries in household waste. They can cause fires in refuse lorries.
- check if the manufacturer offers a recycling service. Alternatively, follow Bristol Waste guidelines:
- Place batteries in a clear plastic bag and put them in or next to the black recycling box.
- Damaged or old batteries can also be taken to Bristol’s Reuse and Recycling centres.

Numbered list
Use numbered lists instead of bulleted lists when the order of the items is relevant.
You do not need to use a lead-in line for numbered lists. Items in a numbered list should end in a full stop because each should be a complete sentence.
If you use a nested list in a numbered list, it will use the number of the item with a number suffix by default.
- bulleted list item one
- bulleted list item two
- nested list item one
- nested list item two
- nested list item three
- bulleted list item 3
